Sedum pallidum bithynicum 'Sea Stars'
Sedum pallidum ssp bithynicum is due to its strange blue-gray color on its own attractive kind of stonecrop. Dense, only 3 cm tall, compact cushions made čárkovitých number of sheets are ideal for growing in a rockery and planting troughs. This little sedum is very durable. No problem can handle sun sunburn extremely long periods of drought. Another advantage of this Alpine is that 90% is a sterile shoots, which means that the plant does not produce flowers. This eliminates the sedum and weeds nevysemeňuje to your surroundings. In addition the botanical species, there is a cultivar of Sedum pallidum 'Sea Stars'. Again, low plant-like growth in the properties of their parents, with the only difference being that the heads čárkovitých leaves in summer, red with a distinctive pink color.
The above two sedum are among my favorites. Relatively
It is often used for planting troughs, when the seedling is placed between the stones to fill the joints between the stones. A big plus for growing in our country is that these sedum mind our wet spring and autumn period, as well as manage snow blanket and holomrazy.
.
I would also like to draw attention to possible confusion with another sedum, which is offered in the market under the name Sedum pulchellum 'Sea Star'. This is another name by mistake, or perhaps pulling commercial garden centers. It is a biennial, not perennial North American species that Sedum pulchellum. Stonecrop does have a large number of beautiful pink flowers, but because it can happen and thanks plevelným samovýsevu can zamořovat their surroundings. Another disadvantage is the cultivation of the fact that as a biennial plant dies after flowering. In the picture you can see how the plant actually looks flowering time. All shoots are transformed into inflorescences, which zachne after flowering. He who seeks hardy species in the garden, I would definitely not recommend this sedum.
