Lately, quite often treat the question of how should be properly planted with dry stone wall. Walls, as such, I like it. Not the modern, concrete precast what looks like real stone, but the real, what line the country lanes, arise from the old tumbledown walls, now nonexistent home. Walls are formed as people worked their fields, and collected stones stacked along the boundary. Walls which are hidden lizards and insects, which nest in small birds. In Finally, there are also new walls that arise from our gardens as a decorative element and are fitted with different kinds of hardy alpine plants. For me personally the most beautiful walls of the old marl stones on which they signed the ravages of time. They are slightly weathered, cracked and covered with interesting plants. Last year I had to save one such wall and decided that the most natural way. Planting resistant species of plants, whose roots solidifies gradually slumping walls.

Planting these old walls is not difficult and it can handle almost everyone. Very important is the selection of species for such planting choose. Quite often I read the menus of various horticultural companies - the kind of dry wall. This may be true, but for our purpose, only those types of suits, which are dense, thread-like, superficial root system. Plants with long roots mrkvovitým are suitable for vertical slits, rather than reinforcing a horizontal surface. Equally important is the resistance of individual plants. It should always be a species that can handle extreme conditions well long lasting droughts alternating with abundant doses of water torrential rains, as well as vysušujícími gusts of wind.

From my own experience I can say that I worked only a few species of sedum, which are very well coping with stressful environments in which the dry wall. It is mainly Phedimus Spurius and Phedimus hybridus, both in their botanical forms, not cultivars. Other then Sedum album, Sedum sexangular e, Sedum acre and Sedum dasyphyllum. Are equally resistant Sedum montanum and Sedum sarmentosum. Other plants are ideal Sempervivum tectorum. Yet its Czech name, houseleek roof, makes it ideal for mounting stressful habitats. Again, the cultivars are not suitable plants. Very durable and mastering every extreme weather are Jovibarba, especially the most famous in our home and Jovibarba globifera. They can be used as various types of classical polštářovek such as Aubrieta or cinquefoil, Dianthus deltoides Veronica spicata and Veronica prostrata.
