Rod Prometheum is a small, distinct, monophyletic (natural) group of 8 species having a common origin. The group evolved from the genus Sedum subgenus Gormania in Iranian - Turkish area. Some species are closely related genus Rosularia, which differ from the absence of developed caudex, shaped cyme inflorescence instead of panicles, less connected petals. Seven taxa are recorded from areas in Turkey, three species are endemic in Anatolia - P. chrysanthum, P. muratdaghense, P. sempertinicum var. serpetinicum and P. serpetinicum var. giganteum. The remaining four species are distributed in the Caucasus, Iran and Iraq - namely, P. Aizoon, P. pilosum, P. and P. rechingeri sempervivoides.

Here is probably the most commonly grown species Prometheum Aizoon - better known under the now invalid name Rosularia pallida. It is durable and richly odnožující species, forming a densely crowded either grown buns went on horizontal surfaces, filling the stands or continuous vertical slits between the stones.

This interesting plant grow for several years with wide experience both in different places in the rockery, and in the garden troughs. From my own experience I can say that Mr Aizoon prefer rather polostinnému place in the garden, but easily manages and sunny habitats. It is interesting that while you grow the plants did not blossom, neither.

When planting in the shade of the plant retains its green color throughout the vegetation, succulent rosettes, leaves are slightly splayed ochlupených. Growth is relatively fast with a large number of subsidiaries rose. Plant in sunny habitats their growth slows, roses are downloaded to the top of the densely stěsnanými leaves. Deep green color changed to pale and the edges of leaves due to solar gain stress pink tinge. Growth slows down and daughter rosettes creates a minimum. All vegetation creates a very hard compact cake, which is a problem to penetrate.

Growing Prometea is quite smooth, only what may be a problem as autumn and winter rains. Species requires habitat with rapid drainage of surface water. In another case it is necessary to protect plant winter cover. Excessive waterlogging may occur during the winter to death the whole plant. Planted plant went straight into the slot, does not require any special protection. When growing on horizontal surfaces, I recommend covering the glass table or a few sprigs of evergreens. Prevent penetration of water into rosettes and decay.

Prometheum Aizoon is attractive looking and unassuming nature, which in our growing conditions, it can only recommend.
