Sedum divergens
Rocky slopes of North America and the edges of the Pacific coast are home to much sukulentního species Sedum divergens. In the northern parts of their distribution rises above sea level, in the southern region extends up to 2300 m altitude. At first glance its high sukulencí leaves that are glossy kulovitéa. Deep green color of the sun changes to red. Succulent stems are up to 10 cm long and are covered with procumbent křižmo protistojnými, densely stěsnanými leaves. The species is similar to another North American stonecrop, Sedum oreganum, with whom he is sometimes confused. The color of flowers is rich in both cases Zuta.
The two mutually interfering species can be easily distinguished by the position
sheets. Sedum divergens has a typical growth of leaves in 4 rows. In contrast, Sedum oreganum rosettes are crowded at the top of the stem. position and shape of leaves is the main distinguishing feature between the two species.
In cultivation, I met two forms of this species. The first, slightly procumbent form with drobnjěšími leaves, under the name Sedum divergens. Second, looking attractive FOMA is a compact, mohutnějšího growth, with more erect leaves stěsnanými densely along the stem, under the name Sedum divergens 'Minus'. Taking a minus in this case refers to a very much crowded leaves, compared to the connecting factor Sedum divergens.
The North American species stonecrop is ideal for use in sklalkách and troughs. It forms dense stands of magnificent to attract attention to themselves. Habitat requires the sandy sunny but not too drying soil. The ideal is to create a box of stones that complete and reliable thanks to the density of vegetation retains the necessary moisture at the roots during hot summer days.
Sedum divergens and all of its forms are easily grown in all conditions. The winter does not specilální protection and is resistant to low temperatures.
