Sedum allantoides
Sedum allantoides is robust, hardy Mexican type peppers, whose name was chosen with regard to stem conical shape of leaves. It is from the Greek words odovzeno Allas = black tie, hook, and eiods = sausage shape. Wild plants are quite variable, and some species have leaves up to flat. Allantoides Sedum is upright growing species with thick leaves and stems, with a bitter smell.
The species is closely related to Sedum Alexander (platyphyllum)
originating from the same region of Puebla and Oaxaca , where it grows at altitudes around 2000 m in the collections of beautiful cultivar is grown, forming branched succulent shrub allantoides Sedum 'Goldie', which probably originated from the crossing of S. allantodies x P. Alexander.
Sedum allantoides is moderately fast growing species. In cultivation it is appropriate to place the plant outdoors in light shade. In the sun may burn leaves. I can grow from spring to autumn, as well as all other species except the Mexican Sedum rubrotinctum on the spot where the sunlight from 9 am to 13 hurt in the afternoon. Ideal for growing in window sun is flat parpet. The soil for growing choose sandy, well drained to avoid the cold days of waterlogging of roots and their gradual decay. Wintering in the cold room with a very limited dressing. We are not often cultivated species.
